Hudson Spinone Sunday Update

The vet has just called, he is doing well and is using his leg more and more. He is a "nice patient" and hopefully will be able to come home tomorrow if his progress continues like it is. They had been taking him outside through the fire escape as it's only a 3 rug shortcut, but today he has a length of rubber matting laid down specially for him from his kennel to the door.

We still have a long way to go when he gets home, 4 weeks before he can do any kind of exercise, no sofas or stairs but in 3 months time he should be back to normal (or Hudson Plus no doubt!).

Hudson's New Hip

Buca is going to let me use his blog for a while so I can write about my hip replacement operation. I'm checking in tonight to a 5-star establishment and tomorrow I get myself a new hip.

I'm not looking forward to it but they say that in 3 months time I'll be back to normal activities and "much more"! It's the "much more" that I'm most looking forward to. My five-year mission is to explore strange new worlds (things I can't reach to steal); to seek out new life and new civilizations (mainly down bunny holes); to boldly go where no Hudson has gone before (those places inaccessible to humans).

I don't know how long I have to stay in for but I'm sure my mum will miss me and want me home very soon.

My Mate Jacob

My mate Jacob the Bracco is still missing, it's been over 4 weeks now and despite extensive searching and publicity, he's still not home. Although I've never met Jacob in the flesh, I feel a certain kinship with him. He was born, literally, as I was found after 2 days being awol with Molly Spinone. My mum called his mum Kim to tell her that I'd been found just as Jacob was being born. His first puppy name was Buca, after me! Jacob, if you are tuned in to my wavelenth, please come home mate. I know it's great fun out there on your big adventure but it's much better being back with your family. You will be spoilt rotten I promise, and be able to get away with anything ... for a while at least.

Jacob Bracco Italiano Missing

Three year old Jacob disappeared on a walk with his family on the 21st January 2009 from the Saffron Waldon area of Essex (CB11 near the M11). Please look out for him he may be well away from home by now. Should you have any information please email me as soon as possible linda.mayne@lineone.net When he went missing Jacob was wearing a beige snake skin effect collar with tags, he is microchipped.
Thank you

The Nest is Built

Well exciting stuff today, the swan was sitting on what I now know to be her nest.  I hope that we can follow the swan story through and maybe get some cygnets at the end of it.  That would be fab.  They are quite close to the end of the garden and don’t seem to bother at all when we go and look (from a safe distance).  Needless to say, the more agile dogs are now banned from going out into the garden on their own!

A Swan Story

We have had a pair of swans around for a few weeks now and yesterday there was some frantic activity at the end of the garden.  Lots of pulling up of leaves and twigs that were growing in the lake.  She didn’t seem too bothered that I was there taking a picture.  Dad was nowhere to be seen.

Hudson and Camels

We all know that camels can go through the eye of a needle to enter heaven but did you know that a Spinone can too. Not to enter heaven but to enter the forbidden bit of the garden that is deep in mud ... and where the rabbits escape to when they are chased out of the garden. Well I suppose that is their idea of heaven.

Hudson (he wasn't the only culprit) is a big dog, he had trouble getting his head back through the gap, let alone his body. It was barely the width of a cd at the bottom and there was no give as it was nailed to the fence either side. Those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting Hudson will know that he is not the most agile of dogs as he has hip dysplasia so how he managed it I don't know. It's also on a steep downward slope so he must have crawled through on his belly to the lure of what was beyond.

Oh and Nigel now has a big hole in his golf jumper and a cut on his hand trying to get him out.

It's Spring

Well we have had some nice weather recently so I thought I’d spend a bit of time in the garden.  Soon bored with mooching around I found somewhere comfortable to sit and watch planet earth go by.  I had to ask for it to be anchored though as I didn’t like it when it started swinging.

Buca Goes Mobile

I can't believe it's over a year since I last posted. Well now I have worked out how to publish to my blog from my mum's mobile phone. Took a bit of working out but I managed it in the end. Mum gave up. She wants me to post the Crufts results onto my blog so we'll see how that works. Bye for now.

I'm Going To Crufts!

Well since I last posted lots has happened. I have been to 2 shows and at the last one I qualified for Crufts. My picture is on the Spinone Club website at http://www.italianspinone.co.uk/images2006/ISCGBOpen/M-Zambuca.jpg. Well I haven't been to Crufts since I was a puppy so it will be an exciting day out for me.

Last weekend I had to go to a grooming workshop. Yuk! We took Bobby with us and he spent all his time hiding under a table cos he doesn't like being groomed either. It was nice to meet some other Spinoni though and we had a good time really.

Good Hair Day

My mum has been busy recently so I haven't been able to update my blog. But today I'm quite excited because I'm going to a show tomorrow. The down side is that I had to be brushed .... I hate this and try to make it as difficult as I can. But I have to admit my hair needed a bit of a make over and now you can see that I have quite long eyelashes, they almost reach the end of my nose!

I've been learning a new trick since I last wrote. It's called "Catch". My mum sits me in front of her and throws a knotted pull which I try to catch in my mouth. More often than not her aim isn't too good so I miss it but today we had improved. After a while I get bored though so can't be bothered to move my head. But tonight we tried with a different thing to catch - a prawn cracker. Well that's much better, even if her aim isn't too good I seem to get them every time and love the way they crunch when I bite into them.

Back to the show though, we are going to Leicestershire in the morning with Bobby (who lives with me) and my best mate Luca. I don't often go to shows so it's a real treat for me to have a day out and meet some other spinone friends. Watch this space.

Buca's Bad Hair Day

Here is a picture of me. This was a bit of a bad hair day for me, I've had a trim since this was taken!

About Buca

My name is Buca (Michiamo Zambuca is my posh name). I'm an Italian Spinone dog and I live in Ringwood with my Spinone family, Riva, Hudson, Bobby and Fraggle. Fraggle is my mum and was named after Fraggle Rock as she looks like the dog in the programme.

I decided to start a blog because I think I will have lots to write about and I like to spend time chilling in the garden whilst pondering life as a Spinone.
