A photo a day for 365 days, we have hijacked Buca's blog to keep our photo diary.
28th February 2011. This simple grass has so many different looks throughout the year. Sunlight on the dried seed heads is one of my favourites.
26th February 2011. In the middle of a common, with nowhere to shelter, I got absolutely soaked as the hail came down. Huge splashes in the water from the hailstones.
25th February 2011. Today's task was to photograph the Spinone merchandise that will be on sale at Crufts.
24th February 2011. Beautiful sky tonight as I was crossing Westminster Bridge.
23rd February 2011. Everything is soaked with the recent rain, this willow looked decidedly damp.
21st February 2011. I got quite excited today when I saw this ladybird as I thought it was something different, only to find it was one of the Asian harlequin variety which is now quite common in the South of England.
20th February 2011. The first daffodil flower of the year emerged today. They seem very late. This one is in a pot next to the house wall, there are none flowering in the garden yet, only a few buds.
18th February 2011. I thought this was a fox when I was taking it from quite a distance away. There have been quite a few foxes around recently, we hear them a lot at night and they drive the dogs nuts.
15th February 2011. Some new beads for my bracelet arrived today, very colourful.
14th February 2011. The sky was full of huge fluffy white clouds today, looked lovely against the bright blue sky.
13th February 2011. And here's a pittosporum seed case before it has opened.
12th February 2011. This pittosporum's seed case has opened and the inside is full of this sticky yellow substance.
11th February 2011. The first and only camelia in flower, 3 weeks later than the first one last year.
10th February 2011. The sky was very colourful this evening when I was walking along the Victoria Embankment.
9th February 2011. This solitary primula looks a bit rough around the edges but brings a welcome burst of colour to the garden.
8th February 2011. I was surprised how close we were able to get to the deer on the Chatsworth Estate.
7th February 2011. Went back for a second visit to the 3 week old litter of puppies. They are very cute
4th February 2011. It's very windy here today, captured by my black bamboo.
Of course a small breeze compared to the terrible Cyclone Yasi experienced
by the people of Queensland this week.
A few minutes earlier the sky had a purple red tinge to it. As the sun rose
it turned a stunning yellow gold colour.
2nd February 2011. I was amazed to see these daffodils in full bloom while
walking along the Victoria Embankment. The ones in the garden are only just
emerging from the ground so it will be a little while before they flower.
30th January 2011. Reminded me of "angry birds" when I looked at it later. I
often see this heron but he's very camera shy and takes off at the slightest
movement.
29th January 2011. A Spinone team, from left to right: Hudson, Alice,
Bobby, Murdoch and Molly
28th January 2011. A little bit of sun makes all the difference today. This
japanese quince has virtually no leaves on it but lots of buds.
26th January 2011. Really struggling to find something interesting today,
it's so gloomy, so have gone for a new look on an old picture.
23rd January 2011. Murdoch qualifies for Crufts 2012 at his first show this
year.
22nd January 2011. The magnolia buds are still firmly closed, love their
hairy outside.
21st January 2011. Some early blossom is out but other things seem to be
later this year like the camellia which is still tightly in bud.
20th January 2011. Today is the day we remember Emma, although it was a
long time ago, her favourite place in the garden still has the daffodils we
planted there in her memory.
19th January 2011. Came across these colourful oak leaves that were frozen
in a shallow pool of water.
18th January 2011. A dewy morning and I spotted this daisy in the grass
that was just opening its petals.
17th January 2011. It's lovely to see the first signs of spring approaching,
here some daffodils are starting to emerge from their underground winter
home. We even had some sun today, wonderful.
15th January 2011. Murdoch tries to to keep up with his uncle Ben and mother
Alice.
13th January 2011. It was this week 2 years ago that we said goodbye to
Riva and here is one of my favourite pictures of her.
12th January 2011. Been trying for ages to capture a swan in flight. Today
one visited the lake, looking for some mates I think. When he didn't find
any he took off to try somewhere else. Such a shame it was so dark today.
10th January 2011. This is the only bit of colour I could find in the garden
on a very dull day.
